1. You can buy vegan cane sugar at Whole Foods. The jury is still out on Stevia, but I buy it anyway. Purevia is my brand of choice. Agave nectar is another great choice.
2. Noodles & Company carry 3 vegan dishes: The Japanese Pan Noodles, Bangkok Curry and Indonesian Peanut Sauté are considered vegetarian and do not contain eggs or dairy.

All Italian restaurants make their noodles with eggs. You can't eat Italian and expect anything to be vegan except salad. I recently read that the vegetarian dishes at Chinese restaurants are cooked in pork fat (confirmed by someone who worked in a Chinese restaurant). Mexican restaurants often have some kind of pork fat in the refried beans as well. Indian restaurants are your best choice for vegan food. Order off the vegetarian list and tell them you're highly allergic to milk and eggs and you should be good. But you won't find it easy to eat out and get anything vegan. Most bread has honey or milk in it, so even a sandwich is risky. Honestly, you can never be sure if it's vegan because you aren't in the back making it yourself. Even if the dish itself is vegan it could come into contact with meat or meat fat, grease, etc just by being on the same grill, stove, etc.

3. Planters dry roasted peanuts have gelatin in them! I was shocked! You just have to read the ingredients of EVERYTHING. Trust no one. There's also veggie cheese slices that appear to be vegan but aren't because they contain casein.
4. Again, my advice here is to read the labels of everything you eat and buy because even if something is vegan now, the company could easily change it's recipe without announcing it publicly. This has happened with vegan products before - becoming vegetarian.
5. I like ginger candy a lot. The Ginger People make great little ginger candy. Purely Decadent has amazing vegan ice cream. I love cooking and enjoy going to www.vegweb.com and finding new recipes to try. I've made a vegan "egg salad", vegan alfredo, and tons more that was absolutely delicious. I recommend reading. Reading books, articles, ingredients. I think the most important part about being vegan is educating yourself and staying informed. Another good tip is to always carry snacks because you never know when you'll be somewhere that you can't get something vegan to eat. Clif bars, Lara bars, nuts & seeds, dried fruit, and Primal vegan jerky are great things to keep on hand.
