Need help in interior designing ladies!!!?
Alright heres the situation. I'm moving into an apartment and need help being matchy matchy. I am basing off a black leather couch i'm getting because of my great dane puppy i have. I have lots of plants and their all in blue pots, some with grey accents some with green accents...so i'm thinking of painting the walls a grey cloudy color. Thats all i got!! I keep looking at stuff and i'm like ok black coffee table black tv stand black and white area rug. But i don't want my place to look dark and sad...i want it to look classy and modern. Is it all about accent colors with pillows or items on the coffee table? I NEED HELP I'M GETTING IN OVER MY HEAD.
You're not in over your head - you're on the right track.
The gray wall color sounds great. I like Sherwin Williams 6003 Proper Gray. Now - take the dramatic step of painting your ceiling the blue color of your pots. Paint all of this in SW's Duration Home in flat. (It's washable). The trim should be crisp white in semi-gloss. A caution that the blue ceiling will reflect on the gray walls, but this could be a GREAT effect!!! I would highlight this by uplighting all of your corners. Put your tallest plants in the corners & place can lights behind them on the floor. You can get these cheaply at Lowe's or Home Depot. The rug should be a shag or natural flokati (that would be my preference) to really create some deep texture. I would NOT get black tables - too much light will be absorbed & the look will be flat without some contrast. Look instead to some light birch tables. Glimmer will be important in here so accessorize wth silver tones in lamps etc. If you have draperies, do them in this sandcastle color:
