African Camphor wood (ocotea Usambarensis) chest?
I have inherited a heavily carved East African Camphor Wood (ocotea Usambarensis) chest, and need to know the best way to take care of it (which polish/wax/oil would be the best to use to keep it in good condition.
I'm not sure where you are, but tropical wood furniture in northern climates tends to split because they dry out. If the chest is natural finish (i.e. no varnish or other coatings) I would just use a good grade of furniture oil. If it's discolored or dirty, start with Murphy's Oil Soap.
