I have a heavy brass compass with a stuck needle. Nothing I have tried to do to dislodge it as worked. Ideas?
I have this wonderful brass compass I have at home that was given to me as a gift several years ago. When I first got it, I handled it frequently. (It still fascinates me to this day.) One day, the needle just froze, and I have never been able to dislodge it. At the time I tried quite hard to shake it free, but now, every now and then I just pick it up as I pass by, wondering how the heck I can get that needle free again. Thank you for any help you can give me!
I would order a compass repair kit. Take the compass apart, clean and replace gaskets and fluid. I would assume the face is either held on with screws or the whole face rotates to unscrew.
