The best time to start thinking about groomsmen gifts is 3-6 months before the wedding. Many grooms get so caught up in all the other decisions required of them during the wedding planning process that they either put off or forget about purchasing the groomsmen gifts. Many grooms have been known to order the week before the wedding! Don't let this happen to you. Take charge and plan ahead to save yourself a huge headache and possible embarrassment. The worst that can happen is that you order your groomsman gifts super late. Be sure to have a list of your groomsmen's full names. This means their first name, middle name and last name. The huge differences are the order of the letters and the look of the letters. For initials, the letters are all the same size and are capital letters. They are done in the order of first name, middle name and last name. For a monogram, the letters are sized differently. The center letter is large in a monogram and represents the last name. So, the proper order for letters in a monogram are as follows: first name, last name, middle name. The last name is prominent and large. Once you understand the different between initials and monogram, you've learned the most complicated part of selecting engraved gifts.
Set your budget and stick to it. Can you afford $20 groomsman gifts? $40? $100? Pick your dollar amount per gift that you are comfortable spending. Try to look at only gifts in your price range. If you can only afford $20 per gift, you'll only bum yourself out and waste time if you're checking out stuff that is $100. That makes no sense.
The best thing to remember about buying your groomsmen gifts is to pick something that you yourself would probably think is cool or useful. And, do yourself a favor, don't wait until 3 days before your wedding to order the wedding party gifts.

Vintage Martin Alto Saxophone from 1920s-1930s?
I have a silver-plated Martin Alto Saxophone. On the bell, there is a large engraving (of a flower I believe), and it says MARTIN Hoinolchoift ELKHART IND. On the back, it says MARTIN and the model number is 57392, and it says LOW PITCH below that. I was wondering the price range for this lovely instrument? I recently had it ultrasonic-cleaned (or whatever you call it). It's in perfect working condition, and you can clearly see how old it is, due to the some of the tarnish and age spots. It's a beautiful vintage sax. 
So, prices anyone?
First of all, it is not an Alto sax. it is a straight neck C Melody sax. Named such, as a C is actually a C and not an Eb, as on an alto, or Bb as on a Tenor. There are also C Melody saxes that resemble a Tenor sax, because they have the same question mark shaped neck.
C Melody saxes in playable condition fetch anywhere from $100 to $1000, depending on age, brand and condition. At the time of writing this answer, there is a similar Martin on eBay, asking $300. there are no bids. The instrument mentioned has the curved neck (more desirable), Brass lacquering, has been polished and recently re padded. Your horn, not having been buffed or re padded might fetch $150-$200. Possibly more to a person seeking the specific model you have.
If you are a sax player, it may be of more worth for you to keep and play it. While a beautiful sounding horn, it doesn't seem to be a highly sought after model. If you don't play, you might consider offering to sell it to someone in the family that does. It would likely be more valuable to them.
