Hamsa, popularly known as Khamsa, is a hand shaped amulet used primarily by Jewish and Muslim people for protection. The name âHamsaâ has been derived from Semitic roots, and means five. When I was a child I found an octagon shaped charm with a yin and yang in the center of it and I Ching writing around it. I didn't know this at the time obviously. Anyway, I always thought it was bad luck for some reason, so I would throw it away. Every time I moved into a new house, I would find it while I was unpaking and throw it out again. I just moved again ad while I was talking to my boyfriend, I saw it around his neck. He said he found it in his keesake box. Now that I know its a form of good luck, I'm not throwing it away. But while researching it, I found that its not balanced correctly. For example, it says that in the new Bagua (thats what its called) Fire is always on top, nut on mine, heaven is. In the Early Bagua, the yin yang is positioned differently and it still does not match with what it should be... Any ideas?? Heres the page of what it is.
